East Heights has a new CarePortal response team, and we are looking to grow.
In every community, there are children and families at a point of crisis who need help. In those same communities, there are churches and people who care and want to take action. That’s where CarePortal comes in; it’s the connecting point. CarePortal exists to help bridge the gap between those in our community who need help and those who can (and should!) help.
All requests that are submitted come from child-serving professionals who are serving these children and families everyday, and who are approved and trained by CarePortal to vet needs. Requests are then sent out via email to all of the churches and community partners who are enrolled. As one of them can meet the need, they respond and ensure the family is helped. CarePortal is not a delivery service, but yet the opportunity to step into someone’s life who is hurting and transfer hope.
East Heights has a new CarePortal response team, and we are looking to grow. We need people with all kinds of gifts! Here are a few ways you can help:
SHOP
Have you ever thought about shopping being a gift? Through our outreach ministry it can be! Sometimes we receive outside funds, but need people who can go out and shop for these items. Do you love to hunt down and/or watch for good deals? Then this job might be the right fit for you.
DRIVE
We’re looking for people to help DRIVE to deliver items. Sometimes, this takes a truck and sometimes, just an SUV or car will work. Do not downplay this role—it’s so vital to our team! If you have a truck, and some open availability, this would be particularly helpful for this role.
DELIVER
Being a part of the delivery team means that you can tag along even if you don’t drive the items. These people are friendly and find it easy to connect with people! Whether it’s just chatting, praying, or interacting with the kids, this team helps make those easy conversations and connections happen. There is also a strong emphasis on those with the muscles to do the heavy lifting!
PRAY
We often think “I’m only praying” or “What can I do besides pray?” And while there are often other action steps to take, prayer is our MOST powerful weapon and often the greatest gift we can give the families we are serving. Whether you’re praying individually, together as a group, or praying WITH these families, prayer is vital to our work. We need to bathe everything we do in prayer.
ENCOURAGE
Have you ever received a card or encouraging note at just the right time when you’re in a really difficult situation? Then you know how much this can mean to these families we are serving. They are in desperate need of words of encouragement. If you have a heart for this, WE NEED YOU!
